Selected as one of the winners of the Magenta Foundation’s 2012 Flash Forward Competition for emerging photographers

I’ve been selected as one of the winners of the Magenta Foundation’s 2012 Flash Forward Competition for emerging photographers.

My ‘Huangshan Ltd’ project was selected by Diane Smyth (British Journal of Photography), Stefanie Braun (Photographers’ Gallery) & Francesca Sears (Panos Pictures).

The work will be published in the Magenta Foundation catalogue and feature in Flash Forward Festival events in Boston and Toronto.

Invited to take part in the Simon Norfolk Masterclass in Athens

I’ve been invited to take part in the ‘Simon Norfolk Masterclass’ as part of the Athens Photography Festival. Run by the Hellenic Centre for Photography in Athens it is sponsored by the British Council in Greece. The four day course begins on 11th November and I’m the only participant from the UK.

Until recently Exhibitions Director at Host Gallery/Foto8 in London, Harry is now director of ‘Here’, a company that publishes, exhibits, teaches and supports photography. He is featuring the ‘Bamboo (Six Seconds)’ project.

AOP Gallery - Summer Exhibition

Answering a call for images with a ‘summer’ theme – not something immediately inherent in most of my work – the image above was selected for the AOP Gallery’s  Summer Exhibition which is to be held at the AOP Gallery in Shoreditch, London. The Private View is on July 29th with the exhibition running to August 11th. The show features a diverse selection of work from notable photographers such as Simon Norfolk and Tim Hetherington.

Here’s some recent images from this trip. Big thanks to Nick and Chris at Mountain Tracks for putting everything together and Tom from The Observer for publishing the article and being a tireless ski model. Previously having only been to beautiful Kashmir in the summer, the Himalayas proved to be a truly a unique ski experience and one I’ll always remember.
